Challenge
As part of ADNOC’s SARB Accelerated Growth Project, early tie-in of production wells at Al
Qatia (SARB North Artificial Island) demanded a highly precise and reliable leak detection
method for critical process piping. The scope involved testing 1” to 6” piping for SLOT-58 and
SLOT-35 under high pressures (up to 276 Barg), where even micro-leaks could pose safety,
environmental and operational risks. Ensuring leak-free start-up without delays or rework was
essential to the project’s success.

Solution
TRITORC deployed its Nitrogen-Helium Leak Testing service using a 1% Helium / 99%
Nitrogen mixture, recognized for its precision in leak detection. The team:
● Divided the systems into test packs and performed incremental pressurization up to
95% of PSV set pressure.
● Used Helium Mass Spectrometer-based detection to identify leaks at critical joints
and components.
● Tagged and documented each leak, followed by repair and re-testing until acceptance
criteria were met.
● Enforced strict safety measures, including exclusion zones, toolbox talks, and certified
equipment.
● Aligned all activities with ADNOC’s eWMS Permit-to-Work system and complied with
ASME/API standards.

Impact
● Zero unplanned shutdowns and a smooth start-up with verified leak-free systems.
● Enabled ADNOC to accelerate production timelines safely from the newly connected well slots.
● Delivered a comprehensive leak test package with reports, P&IDs, and certifications, enhancing project documentation.
● Demonstrated TRITORC’s capability to handle high-pressure leak testing with
precision, reinforcing client trust.
